Гомбеде-Кавус

Gonbad-e Kavus (also Gonbad-e Qabus, Persian: ) is a city in Golestan province in Iran. It had an estimated population of 135,868 in 2005.

Gonbad-e Kavus is famous for a historic brick tower by the same name. The Tower in the central part of the city reaches about 55 meters (including the height of the platform). It is the world's tallest brick tower, and is almost 1000 years old. The tomb, built of baked brick, is an enormous cylinder capped by a conical roof. The circular plan, broken by 10 flanges, is 17 m in diameter, and with 3 meter thick walls.
