The actual rockslide is a little to the east of the outlined area. A lake (Lake Nalivnoye) was created as a result of glacial stream blockage caused by the rockslide. This event occurred on September 12, 1973 as a result of a combined detonation of 4 underground nuclear devices with a yield totaling 4.2 megatons. This was the largest underground nuclear detonation in history. The explosion had a seismic magnitude of 6.97 and triggered the 80 million-ton rockslide that blocked two glacial streams and created a two kilometer-long lake.

I have read an article in a swedish sceintific newspaper that under the stones from the rockslide, there are a former military base. This was burried when the blast whent wrong. The blast was the biggest underground test in the world. The size was compared to 350 Hiroshima bombs.
The Russians said that no radioactivity came out. The thicknes of the rockslide are approx 50 meter.
Nobody knows if any people was killed in the blast or under the rockslide. Of course the Russians say nothing.
