Buryn' is a small town with the populatiuon of approximately 10 000 citizens in the Sumy Province of Ukraine. It's an administrative center of the Buryn' District and situated on the banks of the Chasha River. Buryn' is known in the archive resources from 1688. It was founded by the Ukrainian cossacks settled in that locality which owned by one of the Putyvl' churches.
A lot of outstanding peoples were born in Buryn'. Among them Vsevolod Pavlov, art historian, Michael Ovchinnikov, academician, specialist in forestry, Dr. Nicholas Novachenko, orthopaedist-traumatolog, Raisa Kolesnyk, an opera singer, Valentine Zhakhalov, a poet, Volodymyr Pavlenko, a maecenas, etc.
